Filth + Forced to Breathe + Drover

Filth is an American downtempo deathcore band from Shelby, North Carolina, known for its mix of brutal deathcore with hip-hop influences. The band was formed in 2015 as a side project before developing into a full-time endeavor. Their lyrical themes often explore dark and intense topics, aiming for a raw, unfiltered sound. Filth began as a side project for guitarist David Gantt and vocalist Dustin Mitchell, who were also members of the band InVoker. After releasing their debut EP, Tales from the Gutter, the band gained traction and transitioned into a more serious project, building a following with their distinctive sound. In early 2024, Filth released their full-length album, Southern Hostility. The album further explores the band's blend of hip-hop elements and crushing deathcore, receiving attention from the heavy music scene. The album featured a notably changed production style and a heavier emphasis on the hip-hop influences. Filth's sound is characterized as downtempo deathcore, with a key differentiator being its prominent hip-hop influences. Their music combines the genre's signature excessive breakdowns, guttural vocals, and heavy riffs with urban grooves and percussive vocal patterns. Their sound has earned them a following within the scene and has landed them tour dates with prominent metal bands such as Lorna Shore and Chelsea Grin.
