Astona International Summer Music Academy: Orchesterkonzert
Kirche St. Johannes Zug · Zug

Music
Light We Carry Forward invites you to an evening of extraordinary music, powerful storytelling, and quiet reflection. Twenty-five years ago, two events changed countless lives. One unfolded before the eyes of the world in New York on 11th September 2001. The other took place only two weeks later, in Zug, wher fourteen members of the cantonal parliament and government lost their lives in one of Switzerland's most shocking acts of violence. This unique concert brings together an exceptional selection of Swiss and international artists, choirs, actors, and musicians not only to commemorate the past, but to celebrate the strength of the human spirit and the kindness that emerges in times of crisis. This event is free of charge. You do not need to reserve tickets. More about the concert Featuring nationally acclaimed artists: cellist and singer Jonas Iten, as well as local writer, singer and director Isabelle Flachsmann join international singers Kate Michaels & Sharon Harris along with Candian conductor and arranger, Tiffany Butt on piano. Local choirs: Zug´s Cantori Contenti, the Bel Canto Choir, as well as the Zug Show Choir perform inspiring numbers and are joined by additional distinguished performers. The evening weaves together music, personal stories, spoken word, and moments of reflection in the beautiful setting of St. Johannes Church in Zug at 19:00, September 11, 2026. Rather than focusing on the tragedies themselves, celebrated author Bernhard Lenfers leads the Light We Carry Forward and helps us explore the compassion, courage, and the solidarity that followed—reminding us that even in the darkest moments, humanity has the capacity to choose hope. Join us for a one-time special, unforgetable evening that remembers the past while looking toward to the future with kindness, community, and hope. Admission is free. You do not need to reserve or purchase a ticket. A collection (Kollekte) will be taken at the end of the concert. If you would like to support the project in advance, donations can be made through our official website via this link.
