Bonobo announces UK and EU tour dates alongside new album «Distance In Static», out 11 September via Ninja Tune. Live at X-TRA Zurich on 23 March 2027. Simon Green, aka Bonobo, has announced a series of dates for his brand-new Bonobo Live show, which will tour the UK and Europe throughout February and March 2027, including a return to London’s historic Alexandra Palace. The show will mark another evolution of the Bonobo live experience that has captivated audiences around the world for more than a decade. Alongside an initial run of North American dates taking place in November and December this year, this will be Bonobo’s first live tour since the shows in support of his 2022 album «Fragments». Speaking recently to Mixmag as part of his cover feature, Green explained: «This time, the show will have a strong visual element, and we’ll be incorporating more electronic sounds as well. When I first started performing live, the music was more jazz-oriented, but it has since evolved into something else. I’ve already played solo live shows using just modular synths and a few other pieces of equipment, so this will be a combination of that and my live band. Something a little different from last time, with more pace and energy.» His groundbreaking live show – built around a full live band, guest vocalists and immersive visuals – set a new benchmark for how and where an electronic artist could translate their albums to the live stage. He has performed to millions of people around the world, selling out prestigious venues including the Sydney Opera House, Alexandra Palace and Red Rocks Amphitheatre – in many cases as one of the first electronic artists ever to do so – as well as appearing on the world’s biggest festival stages, including Glastonbury, Coachella, Sónar and Fuji Rock. His most recent tour also included a co-headline appearance at London’s Field Day alongside Aphex Twin, as well as a historic, sold-out five-night residency at the Royal Albert Hall – the longest consecutive run by a solo artist at the venue and the longest ever staged there by an electronic musician. The tour follows the release of Green’s latest album, «Distance In Static», due out on 11 September via Ninja Tune. As ever, the record features an impressive cast of collaborators, including Arooj Aftab, Joy Crookes, Nilüfer Yanya, Ichiko Aoba, Nicole Miglis of Hundred Waters and Aanya Martin. Lyrics appear in English, Urdu and Japanese, while archival Iranian samples and guzheng recordings sit alongside Green’s own meticulously crafted instrumentation, woven together during recording sessions in Los Angeles, Tokyo, London and beyond. A significant part of the album was created at Neil Young’s legendary Broken Arrow Ranch in California, where Green retreated for several weeks earlier this year. The album represents the culmination of his more than 25-year career as a musician and one of electronic music’s leading figures. Over the course of his career, he has released two UK Top 10 albums – 2017’s «Migration» and 2022’s «Fragments», both of which reached No. 5 on the UK charts – alongside numerous Gold- and Silver-certified singles, more than 900,000 records sold, billions of streams, collaborations with major artists including Erykah Badu and Damon Albarn, and nominations for both the BRIT Awards and the GRAMMY Awards. He has received seven GRAMMY nominations in total, five of them in the Dance/Electronic categories – a record number of nominations he shares with The Chemical Brothers, Skrillex and Madonna. Alongside this, Green’s OUTLIER events and DJ sets have continued to place him at the heart of contemporary dance music culture, connecting him with generations of clubbers in warehouses, at festivals and in underground venues alike. In recent years, he has curated line-ups featuring artists including Barry Can’t Swim, Sofia Kourtesis, salute, Kelly Lee Owens, Mall Grab, DJ Tennis, SG Lewis, Carlita, Elkka, HAAi, John Talabot, Paula Tape and many more. His 15,000-capacity OUTLIER showcase at London’s Drumsheds became the fastest-selling event of the season, while a sold-out 10,000-capacity OUTLIER «Homecoming» show at On The Beach in Brighton proved to be one of the highlights of the summer. The album’s visual world – carried throughout both the album and tour artwork – was created in collaboration with acclaimed designer Trevor Jackson. Moving away from the landscape-inspired aesthetic of previous Bonobo albums, «Distance In Static» instead draws on microscopic imagery by renowned photomicrographer John I. Koivula, creating crystalline, alien worlds that feel at once natural and otherworldly.
