From the web: “Lini” was formed in 1994 by 2nd-generation Latvian-Americans in Minneapolis (USA). The group sings and plays Latvian folk songs, but sometimes also uses melodies from other traditions. All arrangements are their own. “Lini” recorded their first songs on cassette tape in 1996. Their first recording was re-released as a CD in 2006. They made a second recording in 1999 and a third recording together with friends and family in 2009. “Lini” seldom perform together anymore because the members no longer live in the same city. They come together for special occasions and actively participate in Latvian folk music groups near their homes, namely, “Teiksma” in Minneapolis and “Savieši” in Riga, Latvia.
